IMPORTANT LEGAL NOTICE: By submitting a digital file or requesting a quote from Eric's 3D Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service. These terms define our manufacturing limits, liability, and your responsibilities as a customer.
1. Manufacturing & Technical Limitations
3D printing is a specialized additive manufacturing process. By using our services, you acknowledge the following:
- Layer Lines & Finish: Unless otherwise specified, parts are provided "as-printed." This means visible layer lines and small artifacts from support structures are a normal part of the process and are not considered defects.
- Dimensional Accuracy: While we strive for precision, 3D printing involves material shrinkage and thermal expansion. Standard tolerances are approximately 0.2mm to 0.5mm. If your project requires "press-fit" precision, this must be disclosed and quoted specifically.
- Post-Processing: Standard quotes cover the removal of support material only. Extensive sanding, chemical smoothing, painting, or assembly are additional services and must be requested at the time of the quote.
2. Material Suitability & Safety
We offer a variety of polymers (PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, etc.). It is the customer's responsibility to select a material suitable for their environment.
- Heat Resistance: Materials like PLA will deform if left in a hot car or direct sunlight. We are not liable for heat-related deformation if a lower-temp material was selected by the customer.
- Food Safety: Most 3D prints are not food-safe due to the porous nature of the layers, which can harbor bacteria. We do not certify any prints for direct food contact or medical use.
- UV Exposure: Standard plastics may degrade or become brittle under prolonged outdoor UV exposure unless a UV-resistant material (like ASA) is specifically requested.
3. Intellectual Property & Legality
Eric's 3D Services respects the law and intellectual property rights. We operate under the following rules:
- Warrant of Ownership: You warrant that you own the digital files submitted or have a license allowing for their physical reproduction. We are not liable for copyright or patent infringement resulting from your submitted designs.
- Proprietary Designs: We will never share, sell, or publicly display your proprietary designs (prototypes/inventions) without your express permission.
- Firearms & Weapons: In accordance with federal and state regulations, we will not print components for firearms, "ghost gun" parts, or items that are classified as weapons. We reserve the right to cancel any order that appears to violate this policy.
4. Quotes, Payments & Cancellations
- Quote Expiration: Quotes are valid for 30 days. After this period, material costs and machine availability may require a re-quote.
- Order Finality: Once production (printing) has begun, the order cannot be cancelled or refunded. The customer is responsible for the cost of the plastic and machine time already consumed.
- Design Changes: If you submit a revised file after a quote has been accepted, a new quote will be issued to account for changes in material usage and print time.
5. Limited Liability & Warranty
Use at Your Own Risk: Eric's 3D Services provides custom-manufactured items "as-is." We do not offer a warranty on the longevity or performance of a part once it leaves our shop.
- We are not liable for any damages (direct, indirect, or consequential) resulting from the failure of a 3D printed part, including but not limited to equipment damage or personal injury.
- Our total liability is limited to the replacement of the part or a refund of the purchase price, at our sole discretion.
6. Shipping & Local Pickup
- Pickup: For customers in the Saint Albans area, local pickup is by appointment only. We do not have a public storefront for walk-ins.
- Shipping Damage: If an item arrives broken due to shipping, you must contact us within 48 hours with photographic evidence of the damaged packaging and the item.
7. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Maine. Any legal proceedings related to these terms shall be conducted in Somerset County, Maine.
